John Huling Health update 2-16-2012

Still going through tests well into March. Everything takes so long to schedule here. Small town medicine I guess. It's all been very frustrating.
We're pretty isolated from people that could help us out. Trying to run the business end of things, doctor visits (when you can get one) errands, etc. is nearly impossible this week but Joni is managing.
As you know I have not posted because I've had such bad abdominal pain and esophagus pain. This is what I can get posted for now.
If you would like to send cards etc. use the address on the website:
Box 468, Shaftsbury, VT. 05262 or
Email: John@Novoxmusic.com
We appreciate your good thoughts and prayers.

Pesonal note from John Huling

I regret to say that I will have to be taking a "time out" to deal with some recent setbacks.
As many of you know I have been dealing with some ongoing medical issues, especially for the last few months, with loss of my voice and esophageal problems, stomach, etc.
I will be going through some more medical procedures over the next few weeks. I hope I am able to return to communicate with all of you soon.
Right now, my condition does not permit me to continue posting here.
I thank you for all the years of friendship, prayers and support. I hope to return ASAP. Perhaps periodically I will be able to.
Love from John Huling

Good News on John Huling Health Update

Test results are back from the upper endoscopy ...things are under control other than some chest pain but feeling much more relieved.
My neurologist feels that the most likely cause for the voice loss is that I contracted a rare condition (it does happen 10% or less) when my nerves to the vocal cords were damaged from either a virus or bacterial infection exacerbated with my esophagitis.
The biopsies showed no growth or malignancy. But we will still have to do regular follow ups.
So good news is I'm here to continue doing music even if it takes awhile to retrain getting my voice back. I can still express my self with music.
I truly believe this could have gone another way since all the tests and symptoms were pointing elsewhere. I do believe all your prayers made the difference. I could feel it the day I was at the hospital that you were all pulling for me. Thanks so much for all your support it was like having friends be right by my side. I will never be able to thank you enough. I'm still trying to think of a way to play for you live or something since I still can't speak, I still want to express my gratefulness to all of you.
Lots of love and thanks to everyone!!!

John Huling out of surgery

Just got out of surgery. I was only suppose to be at the hospital an hour. The upper endoscopy was just suppose to be a 20 minute procedure. Instead I was there for more than 4 hours. The doctor took good care of me though. We arrived Wednesday morning. They found more "growths" not sure of the exact number but the nurse said my doctor removed a "number of them" and they are being biopsied. No report till Friday or Monday. But I am hoping and praying for good news that he got everything and nothing has spread.
My voice is a different matter. I may never get that back. There has been nerve damage as was suspected. I may not be able to ever speak again. One reassuring note was that sometimes it can come back somewhat with training in a year or so.
I'm praying for a miracle as I know from the hundreds of emails and Facebook friends have been. It helps to have so many at the hospital who are fans of my music too.
Believe me when I tell you, with this many people praying for me ...I feel it. I was comforted today even though it was scarey, knowing i was in your thoughts.
I, of course, was out the whole time but I knew immediately something was going on when I saw the clock on the wall showed I'd been there 4 hours!
Thanks for all your incredible love and support.

Health update for John Huling

Here we go again. Completely lost my voice a little over a month ago.
Getting CT Scans of head and neck, upper endoscopy scheduled and Neurologist next. Something is pressing supposedly on the vagus nerve that runs throughout your body i.e. head , neck, abdomen etc. Don't know exactly where.
All very scarey. Lots of people are praying for me. Thanks for your support over these years.

Winter Solstice - New John Huling CD available Sept 1, 2011

First of several new CD's for this year, Winter Solstice, will be available by September 1, 2011.
Winter Solstice contains over 60 minutes of Huling's "musical stories" for healing the heart, mind and spirit.
Kyaamuya (ki-ya-moo-ya) or Winter is a time of reverence and respect for the spirit. It's also a time for ceremonies with "storytelling"...stories of the past, present and of future events. The Moon and sky also have a special meaning during this time… the shortest day of the year.

These musical stories unfold with haunting native american flute melodies, meditative drumming and numerous other new, rarely heard instruments including the "Hang Drum" and the "Cristal Baschet", all enveloped with the soothing sounds of nature.
Winter Solstice is contemplative peaceful music for meditation, dreaming and for healing your spirit. Kyaamuya.

Happy New Year from John Huling Music

Happy New Year!
Thanks for the years of support and admiration for my music.
I am looking forward to releasing some more new music this year.
I started nearly 30 years ago. Many changes have taken place. LP's and Cassette tapes are all but gone now. Cd's won't be far behind according to some experts.
Music is still important for me and I hope for you too.
We now live in a world where people shell out 4 to 5 bucks or more for a cafe latte.

Thanks for purchasing my music. I hope it does your heart, mind and soul good. It is great to know that there are still fans, who after all these years, continue to be so enthusiastic about my or should I say... "our" music.
Lots of love and thanks.
